“Untie” features three artists in an exhibition that unlaces a knot, unbinds restraints and restrictions of creativities that used to hold the artists back to where they had always stood. In this exhibition, each artist will loosen that knot and reveal their true colours. Free of any boundaries, the artists only wish to express themselves and follow their dreams through paths from different experiences.
3 artists, 3 roads, they are ready for their first exhibition at their new start line.
Songwoot Kaewwisit – many people know him through his role as a professor and winner of many awards, an artist who has been through consistent shows both in Thailand and internationally. His talent has always created his own unique identity, but this time Songwoot uses his skills to find different ways to express himself through 12 oil paintings that are very simple, yet are so deep in their contexts. The works are rich in his views of himself and views of the world.
This exhibition is a prologue for his new epic and creative journey that he would like to pay tributes to people who inspired others; dreams and ambitions; imagination from person to person. A man’s dream does not fade with his life cycle, but it roots itself further down from generation to generation.
Starting his series off with Steve Jobs and Diego Maradona, whom the artist believes that their visions and ambitions have created wonders and fuelled many people to go forward and pursue their hopes and dreams.
Krittiya Poolsawat – A young stylist with hidden artistic talent. Today, he is ready to untie and reveal his first series of work that are influenced greatly by many European artists from the previous era, yet they are unique and easily identified to the artist with his own brushstrokes, textures, scraping and making lines and having fun with his imagination, designing the poses and the faces and fashions and styles of his models.
Krittiya’s paintings are able to capture our attentions by the distinctive characteristic of each subject, and the paintings standout with the choice of colours and light angles as the artist purposely used to convey feelings and stories in each painting. The temperatures that are used to bring out sensuous desires or the cool tones that reflects distance and disengagement of the subject and silence that awaits answers are all part of the artist’s imagination that are like a move studio that puts each character in a costume and create a life that is directed by the artist.
Prang Jorakhet – the one and only female artist in this exhibition. Woman is a gender that is full of mysteries and unexpected surprises. Prang unlaces and reveals her secrets through her oil paintings by using facial expressions and body gesture to refect many states of mind that are both satirical, funny and full of charms.
Prang’s works mirrors the strength that is hidden behind her smiles and vintage fashion that is part of who she is. Through countless hours of practice and ambitions, Prang is able to achieve this series for the exhibition that proves that talent is nothing without enthusiasm and aspiration; and we hope that she will inspire many women to feel confident with their own chosen paths.
Three quality artists in the exhibition “Untie”, another exhibition that Subhashok the Arts Centre is proud to present. Exhibition duration from February 21st through to April 5th, 2015. Opening reception starts warmly on the 21st of February at 6pm.
